Play Santa to Local Children

Monday, December 7th, 2009

You don’t have to dress up and you don’t have to lead a sleigh of reindeer. All you need to do is get a Toy for a Tot and bring it to the office.

All this month, right up to Christmas Day, we’ll be helping the United States Marine Corps with their very special Toys for Tots drive. We’re asking everyone to be a part of this great program and help make it a special holiday season for some of the wonderful kids in our surrounding communities. It may never mean more than it does this year.

We’re Unwrapping Our Christmas Plans Now

Monday, December 7th, 2009

It’s always easy getting into the spirit of the season at Tropical Palms and this year is no exception. We have fun parties, great entertainment and good times planned to make it a special holiday for all our guests.

Our season kicks off with a Ho, Ho Ho the weekend of December 11th with a Saturday Night Sweet & Savory buffet reception for all our Sandcastle Homeowners in the Bamboo Room. There’ll be music and entertainment and we’re hoping to get some Marines to join us to help start our toy collection drive.

We’re putting a Hawaiian spin on the holiday the weekend of December 18th with a Christmas Luau. The pool deck will be dressed up in holiday lights, we’ll have a DJ, karaoke, an ice cream social and all the usual fun, games and activities like our dive-in movies – all with a Christmas theme, of course.

Christmas Day we’ll be serving a grand traditional dinner with a menu that includes ham, potatoes au gratin, green bean casserole, and sweet potato casserole – and yes, it will be topped with marshmallows – and green garden salad. And of course there will ooey, gooey brownies and an incredible assortment of pies. Perfect for after presents.

There will be three seatings, at 12, 1 and 2 so you can pick one that’s most convenient for your family. Be sure to make reservations now because you won’t want to miss a single bite – or any of the great fun things we’ve got planned for the day.

We’re also unwrapping some gifts for you, like an upgraded pool deck with more furniture and chairs so you can enjoy all the poolside activities even more. And we’ve stuffed your stocking with a new bocce ball court and an additional nine holes of miniature golf to really challenge your skills.

Our volunteers have also been putting some presents under the tree, starting some great new programs you’ll definitely want to be a part of, get in shape morning walking and aqua fit classes, horseshoes, Spanish lessons and game nights. Contact Andy or Luke if you’re interested in attending or if you have a program you’d like to start. We’re always looking for great ideas, so get involved.

Let’s get this party started. Make your reservations now!

December’s Hidden Gem

Monday, December 7th, 2009

This month’s hidden gem: the Skycoaster! located at the Fun Spot USA in Kissimmee. It’s a little bit of skydiving and a little bit of hang-gliding put together to make up what Activities Director Andy Fronczak says is “the single biggest adrenaline rush in Orlando” – and that takes in a lot of wild rides.

We’re also giving you an opportunity to win two free tickets to the Skycoaster. All you have to do is submit a picture or video of yourself – or a loved one if they’re still talking to you – to our Facebook page. We’ll do a random drawing and if your picture or video is chosen you’ll have the chance to go back again and take the 300-foot plunge again. If you dare!
